SUU'S DETENTION EXTENDED AGAIN
Total time under house arrest more than 12 years
Aung San Suu Kyi's house arrest was extended by one more year today, a spokesman for the State Peace and Development Council said on condition of anonymity. The Burmese democracy leader has now been under continuous house arrest for five years, and has spend a total of more than 12 of the past 18 years incarcerated in her home.
It is reported that UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon did not even mention her name when he met the junta's leader Senior General Than Shwe last week.
